‘Robber’ killed in Khulna ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: A suspected robber was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in Daulatpur upazila of the district on Friday midnight.

The deceased was identified as Mirazul Islam Miraz, 26, an accused of 10 cases and son of Mujibur Rahman in Jabdipur area of Phulbarigate.

Kazi Mostak Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station, said that police arrested Miraz at night.

Based on his information, a team of police along with Miraz conducted a drive behind the Agriculture College to recover looted valuables.

When the team reached the spot, his associates opened fire on police, forcing them to fire back that triggered the ‘gunfight’, leaving Miraz dead on the spot, the OC said.

Police recovered one LG, two bullets, two sharp weapons and 50 Yaba pills from the spot.
