Except BCL, all panels boycott DUCSU polls

Staff Correspondent: All panels except Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have boycotted the long-awaited election of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), bringing allegations of vote fraud.


Leaders of the panels - left alliance, quota reform panel, independent panel, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal panel - announced their decision from a press briefing at Madhur Canteen on the campus.

Liton Nandi, vice presidential candidate, and also left panel leader, made the announcement at a press conference around 1.00 pm in Madhur canteen on Monday.

“This is a farce. We reject the election. We demand fresh election schedule and fresh voting,” said the vice president candidate of Ducsu.

Among others, Independent candidate Arani Semonti, was also present at the press conference.

Students chanted slogans against the vice-chancellor and demanded he resign.

Students also announced that they would boycott tomorrow’s classes.
