Bangladesh to see 7.3% GDP: World Bank

Staff Correspondent: The World Bank predicted 7.3 percent economic growth for Bangladesh for the current fiscal year.

Robert J Saum, World Bank (WB) Country Director for Bangladesh, in a report titled ‘Bangladesh Development Outlook-2019’, made the disclosure at its Agargaon office in Dhaka on Thursday noon.

Earlier on Wednesday noon, the Asian Development Bank forecasted Bangladesh’s GDP growth is set to hit eight percent at the end of current fiscal.

Following the issue, Robert J said, “World Bank has its own calculation. Evaluating various statistics, the World Bank predicted 7.3 percent economic growth for Bangladesh for the current fiscal year.

Besides, the gross domestic product (GDP) growth of Bangladesh is expected to grow by 8 percent in last phase of this year based on positive trend in investment, manpower development and use of technology, according to the WB.

It is fifth in the rank of growing economies after Ethiopia, Rwanda, Bhutan, and India respectively. Bangladesh shares the position with Djibouti, Ivory Coast and Ghana.
