Bus kills college student in Demra

Senior Correspondent: A college student was killed as a bus ran over him at Demra in the capital on Friday noon.

The deceased was known as Tahsim Iram, 18, son of Delowar Hossain of Amulia Purbapara of Demra. He was a second-year student of the Commerce Department in Golam Mostofa School and College of Demra.

Hearing the incident, locals and college students took the street and blocked the road. They also vandalised some vehicles.

Till filling up the report in the afternoon, additional police were deployed in the area.

Robiul Islam, Senior Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Demra Zone, confirmed the news.

“Driver and helper of the bus was detained,” he added.

Locals said a Ramzan Paribahan bus hit Iram while he was returning home by a bi-cycle via Mostomajhir intersection at noon, leaving him dead on the spot.
