Nusrat murder: Tools were bought with Tk 12,000

Senior Correspondent: No evidence of money laundering has yet been found in the incident of Feni’s Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi murder. However, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is leading further investigation into the matter.

Molla Nazrul Islam, special superintendent of CID, came up with the disclosure in a press conference at its office in the capital’s Malibag on Sunday.

He said, “We are investigating whether any legal transaction occurred over the incident. We have yet found any evidence in this regard. However, a little amount of money was made transaction over the incident. An amount of Tk 10,000 to 12,000 was given Principal SM Sirajuddowla by Sonagazi municipality councillor, also Sonagazi municipal Awami League Acting Secretary Maksud Alam. The money was used to buy burqas, hijabs, kerosene and robe used in the killing mission. Besides, we have yet not found evidence of other transaction.”

On April 6, Nusrat was set fire after pouring kerosene on her body by some miscreants in burqa, leaving her seriously burnt. Later, she succumbed to her injuries on April 10 while undergoing treatment at Burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
