Some 30 to 35 Bangladeshis die in Tunisia boat capsize

Secretariat Correspondent: Foreign Affairs Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said some 30 to 35 Bangladeshis are expected to be among the victims of Tunisia boat capsize although the government has no clear information on the issue.
Besides, the efforts are in progress to confirm whether there is any Bangladeshi among the survivors.
The minister disclosed the latest information while briefing reporters at his office on Sunday.
The sunken boat carried around 75 persons. Of them, 51 were Bangladeshis as far we have known, said the minister.
"Sending manpower to Libya has been suspended. But, many Bangladeshis are entering Europe by boat after crossing various Middle East countries via Libyan coast," added Abdul Momen.
However, the boat carrying some 75 migrants capsized in the Mediterranean off the Tunisian coast on way to Italy Thursday (May 9) night, leaving many of them dead.
