Water in 16 areas of Dhaka contaminated

Staff Correspondent: Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is vulnerable in 16 areas of Dhaka, according to a list produced before the High Court.

Writ petitioner lawyer Tanvir Ahmed produced the list before the HC bench of Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Justice Md Khairul Alam on Monday.

The Dhaka areas are- Jurain, Dania, Shaympur, Uttara sector 4, Lalbagh, Razar Deuri, Malibagh, Madartek, Banasree, Goran, Raysaheb Bazar, Basila, Pallabi, Kazipara and Sadarghat.

The HC bench also expressed dissatisfaction at WASA for not complying with its order to examine water in different areas of Dhaka.

Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju stood for the state during the hearing.

The court also directed the Ministry of Local Government to submit report over Dhaka water examination cost within next Wednesday (May 15).
