Largest Eid congregation held in Sholakia

Kishoreganj Correspondent: The largest Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat(congregation) of the country was held on the historic Sholakia Eidgah Maidan this morning with participation of over thousands of devotees from home and abroad amid drizzling.

Eminent Islamic scholar Maulana Faird Uddin Masud administered the Eid prayer at 10am.

Sholakia Eidgah held its 192th Eid congregation this year. A special prayer was offered seeking peace, welfare and prosperity of the mankind and the nation.

Devotees were allowed to enter the ground after undergoing an exhaustive search. Leaders from different political parties and government officials took part in the jamaat apart from the commoners. Four tier security measures were taken in the field.

Kishoreganj police super Mashrukur Rahman Khaled said, “Thinking about terror attack in Sri Lanka, New Zealand and other countries, the authority took special security measures. A peaceful Eid Jamaat was our prime target.”

Five platoon of BGB forces, 1,200 policemen, 100 of RAB personnel and law enforcers were deployed in Sholakia.
