‘All gas meters to be made pre-paid’

Staff Correspondent: State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that all the meters of gas connections will be made pre-paid.

The minister made the disclosure while addressing a press conference at his secretariat office in the capital on Sunday.

He said, “Coordination is needed to increase the gas price. We have submitted the issue to Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC). Now the whole thing is depending on them. We are waiting in this regard.”

The minister also said, “We are discouraging the use of gas in residences. We are going to take a large project to replace old gas lines with new ones. Pre-paid meters will be set there.”
