Court to hear OC Moazzem’s bail plea today

Staff Correspondent: The High Court will hear the bail plea of former Officer-in-charhe of Sonagani Moazzem Hossain in a case filed for killing much-talked Nusrat murder.

The high court fixed Tuesday 2:00pm for hearing in the case.

The HC bench of Justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Khizir Hayat passed the order this morning.

Attorney general Mahbube Alam will move for the state during the hearing.

The former OC Moazzem Hossain is an accused in a case filed over recording Nusrat Jahan Rafi’s statement on his phone and circulating the video clip on social media without her consent. On June 16, he was produced before the court seeking bail petition.

Later, on June, the cyber tribunal sent him to jail rejecting bail plea in the case.

On April 6, Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa in Feni’s Sonagazi upazila, was set ablaze allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against the madrasa principal, Siraj Ud Doula, for sexually harassing her. Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Syedul Haque Sumon filed the case with Dhaka’s cybercrime tribunal on April 15.
