496 children become victims of rape in last 6 months

Senior Correspondent: At least 496 children were raped in Bangladesh in last six months, according to a report.

A private organization, Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF) came up with the alarming report on Thursday.

A total of 41 children have become victims of rape in the first week of July, said a study. Of them six were gang raped, five were mentally-challenged, and three were killed after being raped.

Besides, ten children have fallen victim to attempted rape, according to the reports from daily newspaper.

The report also said that a total of 496 children have fallen victim to rape from January to June this year, whereas the number was 571 in 2018.
