Biomedical research study again finds antibiotics in milk

Staff Correspondent: A latest study has found antibiotics in ten new samples of the pasteurized milk products in the capital’s kitchen markets.

Professor A B M Faruk, Director of Biomedical Research Centre, has said this. This is his second phase milk research report.

A press release issued on Thursday from Biomedical Research Centre of Dhaka University confirmed the matter.

Earlier on June 25, Dhaka University’s Biomedical Research Centre and the labs at the Faculty of Pharmacy published a research report on milk and other food items.

Protesting the report, Kazi Wasi Uddin, additional secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, said, “There is no harmful ingredients in the milk of local markets. A vested quarter is trying to destroy dairy industries of Bangladesh.”

Later, following the criticize and discussion in social networking sites, the second phase research report was made public.

The result of research is alarming. Harmful antibiotics are found in all samples.
