Dengue panic grips city cattle markets

Staff Correspondent: The entire nation is currently panicked with dengue fever as the mosquito-borne disease has been broken out across the country.

Cattle traders who have arrived in the capital to sell sacrificial animals for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha also got panicked with dengue.

There are about 9 days left for Eid-ul-Azha. Traders from different parts of the country started to gather in different cattle markets in the capital with sacrificial animals.

They have been livings in the markets. They got panicked after they came to know about dengue fever that has broken across the capital.

Not only for traders, workers of cattle market committee are also panicked with the crisis.

Riazul Haque, who hailed from Kushtia to the capital’s largest cattle market Gabtoli, said, “There is a lot of garbage in the cattle market. Water is also found stagnant water at several places where mosquitoes are being born.”

He further said, “Brother, everybody fears about death. After reaching Dhaka, we came to know that entire Dhaka is affected with dengue fever. We are currently passing days with panic.”

Another cattle trader Harun Mia said, “I reached Dhaka with cattle three days ago. There are a lot of mosquitoes here. We sleep after fitting net in the night. But we have heard the Aedes mosquitoes bites on day. We have to do many works during day. We also chat each other at the noon. Nothing to do if any mosquito bites during day as it is not possible to fit net.”
