Khaleda’s Niko graft case hearing on Aug 27

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court on Sunday fixed August 27 to hold next hearing on the charge framing in Niko Graft case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman of Dhaka Special Judge Court-9 deferred the date of hearing as Khaleda Zia was undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Khaleda's lawyers Md Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan, Syed Jaynul Abedin Mejbah and Hannan Bhuiyan filed an appeal to defer the hearing for framing charges against her.
Later, the court fixed August 27 for the charge framing, accepting the appeal.
On December 9, 2007, the Anti-Corruption Commission ACC filed the case accusing the 11 people of misusing power to grant a gas deal to Canadian company Niko, when Khaleda was the prime minister of then Bangladesh.
