Dengue patients nearly tripled in last 4 days

Arif Shaon: Changing the decreasing trend in last two days, the number of dengue patients increased alarmingly. Dengue patients’ number were reported to have nearly tripled in the last four days.

A total of 518 dengue patients were hospitalized in a single day in July Month but 1,741 dengue patients have been hospitalized in a day in August.

Specialists said that the number will increase in the upcoming days as the months of August and September are the peak period usually.

Dr Prof Saif Ullah Munshi, chairman of the Virology department of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University said, dengue spread across the country from Dhaka. Basically dengue spread by those people who recently visited the capital.

Health Minister Zahid Malik also expressed concerned that dengue may spread outside of Dhaka during Eid vacation.
