Buyers, traders happy with cattle prices

Staff Correspondent: The cattle markets in Dhaka city have gained momentum, with buyers turning up in increased numbers, ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha to be observed in the country on Monday.
During visit to the cattle market at Dania of Shanir Akhra on Sunday, huge number of buyers were seen there. A huge number of sacrificial animals were brought to the market.
Buyers at the cattle market are returning home happily as the prices are some less than their expectation.
The demand for medium size cows is high, so traders are getting a good price from those cows. But prices of big size cows are less from the medium size cows.
A buyer named ABM Nur Hoosin said he bought a cow at a price of Tk 65,000. It is Tk 15,000 higher from his budget, but he is satisfied over the price.
“I spent Tk one lakh and 80 thousand to buy an ox,” said Haji Ambar Ali who came from Royerbagh area.
Like him many other buyers were seen coming out of the market smiling with their sacrificial animals.
In Jatrabari market, Rubel Howlader, a cow seller who has come from Gazaria in Munshiganj, expressed his frustration over the low prices.
He said, “I have brought 15 cows but buyers are asking for low price. I hope will get a good price in the afternoon’.
Another trader Moinul Hossain who have come from Narsingdi with 16 cows said “I have only sold two cows. Buyers are asking for low price, I want to sell those in reasonable prices”.
