No threat of terror attacks at Eid jamaats: Monirul

Senior Correspondent: Monirul Islam, chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has said that there is no specific threat of terror attacks at country’s Eid jamaats this year.

Monirul Islam came up with claim at a press conference held at the DMP media centre on Sunday noon.

“There is no specific threat of terror attacks. But we have taken measures keeping in mind some previous incidents”, he said.

“Militancy is now a global issue. We have arrested almost all militant kingpins and their associates.  Some are trying to collect their members,” he added.

He said policemen will be deployed to important establishments, shopping malls and offices during the Eid vacation.

Muslims in Bangladesh will celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on Monday.
