‘WB gives blank cheque and says write down amount you want’

Special Correspondent: Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said that The World Bank (WB) has given Bangladesh blank cheque and said write down amount of money you need. There will be no secrecy in financing in Bangladesh.

He said, “WB is ready to provide all kinds of assistances necessary for Bangladesh’s economic development. Though WB showed its back from Padma Bridge Project, now it changed its behaviour a lot.”

The Minister told this to the reporters after WB country director Mercy Miyang Tembon made a curtesy call with him at his office in the capital Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Thursday.
Economic Relations Division (ERD) Secretary Monowar Ahmed, among others, was present in the meeting.

Kamal said WB is now ready to provide Bangladesh money as much as necessary to create projects and to finance here. We also take suggestions from WB for boosting the possible sectors. There is scope to utilize 88 percent of blue economy of the country. WB eagers to work in this sector.”
