Saikat shown arrested in Rumpa murder case

Detective Branch (DB) of police showed arrested Saikat, ‘so-called’ boyfriend of Stamford University student Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa, in connection with the case filed over her murder.

He will be produced before a Dhaka court at 3:00 pm today.

Obaidur Rahman, additional deputy police commissioner of DMP media wing, confirmed the matter to risingbd.

Earlier, Saikat was interrogated at the DB office.

DB police on Saturday held Saikat over the death of Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa.

According to DB sources, Saikat is former BBA student of the same university. He was held after checking call list of Rumpa’s mobile phone. He made the last call on Rumpa’s phone.

Rumpa, a second-year English student of the private university in Siddheshwari area, was found dead on an alley near the building on Wednesday night.
