Arrest warrant against SK Sinha

A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha and 10 others in a money embezzlement case.

After accepting the charges, Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Senior Special Judges’ Court of Dhaka issued the arrest warrants against all the accused on Sunday noon as they have been shown fugitives in the charge sheet.

The court directed police to submit by January 22nd the reports on execution of arrest warrants.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case against SK Sinha and 10 others on charge of money embezzlement.

The other accused in the case are- Farmers Bank (Now Padma Bank) former MD AKM Shameem, former SEVP Gazi Salahuddin, First vice president Shapon Kumar Roy, Senior vice president Md Ziauddin Ahmed, First vice president Safiuddin Askari, Vice president Md Lutful Haque, Md Shahjahan of Tangail, Niranjan Chandra Saha, Ranjit Chandra Saha and his wife Santri Roy.

The watchdog found ‘evidence’ of fraud involving transactions of Tk 4 crore from Farmers Bank.
