2nd phase Ijtema: 7 pilgrims die

Seven pilgrims have died so far during the second phase of 55th Biswa Ijtema on the bank of river Turag at Tongi in Gazipur.

Four people died on Friday night and Saturday morning. The deceased were identified as Humayun Kabir, 60, son of late Joynal Abedin at Osmanpur under Pirganj, AFM Jaharul Alam, 65, son of Lutfor Rahman at Kalahat Gopalpur in Jhenidah, Ilias Mia, 85, son of late Fazlur Rahman at Nalbogh under Turag Thana, and Abdur Sobhan, 65, son of Bhilu Hazi at Kamalerpara under Saghata Thana in Gaibandah.

Earlier, three people died on the Biswa Ijtema.

The second phase of 55th Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of the Muslims after Hajj, began on Friday morning at Tongi, on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka.
