Ariful remanded over clash during Gopibagh polls campaign

A Dhaka court granted one-day remand for Ariful Islam in a case filed over the shooting during a clash between supporters of BNP and Awami League candidates in Dhaka’s Gopibagh area on January 26.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Millat Hossain on Wednesday passed the order for placing Ariful on one-day remand in the case filed under the arms act.

Earlier, the investigation officer of the case produced the accused before the court with a seven-day remand prayer for him.

Detective Branch (DB) of police on January 30 arrested Ariful from the capital’s Hatirjheel area. A gun and 50 bullets were recovered from his possession during his arrest.
