HC acquits 4 who get 10 yrs for Jihad’s death

The High Court has acquitted four people in a case filed over death of 4-year-old Jihad, who fell into an unsealed deep tube-well for Bangladesh Railway project in Dhaka's Shahjahanpur in 2014.

Justice Md Ruhul Quddus and Justice ASM Abdul Mobin passed the order after accepting their appeal on Wednesday.

The four officials are Bangladesh Railway Senior Sub-Assistant Engineer Jahangir Alam, Assistant Engineers Md Nasir Uddin Md Zafar Ahmed Shaki and SR House contractor and Proprietor Md Shafiqul Islam.

On 26 December 2014, the four-year-old boy, Jihad, fell into the abandoned water pump pipe in the city’s Shahjahanpur Railway Colony area.

After 23 hours, the body of the boy was retrieved and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He was declared dead by the doctors.
