March 17 declared public holiday

The government has declared March 17 as a public holiday to celebrate Mujib Borsho on that day.

According to the holiday list of 2020, the government declared March 17 as public holiday. The day was observed as National Children's Day last year.

The day is being celebrated in Bangladesh as a tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was born on this day in 1920 in Tungipara of Gopalganj district.
