Woman killed while saving son

An elderly woman has been killed while she went to save her son from opponent’s attack at Badda in the capital.

The deceased was identified as Rakia Begum, 72, wife of one late Nur Hossain. The woman used to reside with her sons at Paknipara area of Beraid in Badda.

Autopsy of the body was completed at the morgue of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Friday noon.

Parvez Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Badda Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said several youths were beating Alamgir, son of the elderly woman Rakia Beguma on Thursday night over previous enmity. She went forward to save her son. Then, she sustained serious injuries by the hit of opponent. She was firstly taken to a local hospital. She was referred to DMCH as her condition deteriorated. There she was declared dead.

A case was filed in this connection on Thursday night.
