Barrister Suman wants to fight legal battle for journo Arif

Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman on Saturday (March 14) expressed his interest to fight the legal battle for journalist Ariful Islam who was sent to jail for allegedly keeping drugs in house.

The lawyer told risingbd that he is going to put the issue before the court of Justice Md Ashraful Kamal on Sunday (March 15).

He said, the incident of Kurigram is an unprecedented move. Successes of the government is becoming tarnish due to the misuse of power of some bureaucrats.

“As a lawyer, I am ready to provide all kinds of legal supports to them (Arif’s family) in the court,” he said.

On March 13, some Ansar members led by a magistrate entered into the house of Ariful and picked him up in the middle of the night in Kurigram. Later, the court sentenced him one-year jail term for allegedly keeping drugs in the house.
