Ansar Al Islam top leader arrested

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a top leader of militant outfit Ansar Al Islam.

A case was filed against him with Motijheel Police Station on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Masudur Rahman told risingbd on Friday afternoon that Sagir was arrested from T&T College area of the capital’s Arambag on Thursday.

According to police, Sagir is creating groups for the militant outfit. He was delivering extremism sermons across the country. He has contacts with leaders and activists of the outfit who live in India, Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia.
