Prof Muntasir Mamun tests coronavirus positive

Eminent historian Professor Muntasir Mamun has tested positive for deadly coronavirus.

Assistant Professor Dr Mahbubur Rahman Kochi of Mugda General Hospital confirmed the news.

Dr Monilal Aich, president of Mugda General Hospital's Covid-19 response team, said Prof Muntasir Mamun has been kept at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. He is being given oxygen and other supports as well.

“Though his physical condition is currently stable, he is not out of danger. We have kept ventilation (life support) ready for him. It will be used it if needed,” he added.

Earlier on Sunday midnight, he was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of the Covid-19.

Dr Monilal Aich said Prof Muntasir Mamun was admitted to the hospital with coronavirus symptoms. He was taken to ICU at 1.00am on Monday.

Mentionable, Muntasir Mamun’s mother is also undergoing treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital after contracting the coronavirus.
