Govt to buy 2 lakh metric tonnes more Boro paddy

The government has decided to purchase additional 2 lakh metric tonnes of Boro paddy at Tk 26 per kilogramme than the target set in this current season.

The Food Ministry sent a letter to the director general of the Food Directorate on Sunday (May 10) giving an approval to the purchase of the additional paddy.

The government had earlier decided to procure eight lakh metric tonnes of paddy at Tk 26 per kilogramme, ten lakh metric tonnes of boiled rice at Tk 36 per kilogramme and 1.5 lakh metric tonnes of sunned rice at Tk 35 per kilogramme.

Paddy and rice procurement were started from April 26 this year and will continue till August 31.
