Atiqul to take charge as DNCC mayor Wednesday

Newly elected mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) M Atiqul Islam is going to take charge for the second term on Wednesday (May 13).

"M Atiqul Islam will take his chair from incumbent panel mayor Jamal Mostafa at 12 pm tomorrow," said ASM Mamun, public relations officer at the DNCC, on Tuesday (May 12) noon.

The newly-elected mayor Md Atiqul Islam took his oath of office on February 27.

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives' Md Tajul Islam administered the oath to the mayor.

The polls to the DSCC and DNCC were held on February 1.

Awami League-backed candidates Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Atiqul Islam swept the elections as residents of the capital elected their mayors to hold the offices of DSCC and DNCC for the next five years.
