Atiqul takes charge as DNCC mayor

Newly-elected mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) M Atiqul Islam has taken the charge for the second term.
Acting Mayor Jamal Mostaf handed over the charge around 12.30pm on Wednesday.
DNCC Chief Executive Md. Abdul Hai, Secretary Rabindra Sree Barua, Chief Health Officer Mominur Rahman and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
The newly-elected mayor Md Atiqul Islam took his oath of office on February 27.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam administered the oath to the mayor.
The polls to the DSCC and DNCC were held on February 1.
Awami League-backed candidates Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Atiqul Islam swept the elections.
