Former DIG Bazlur Rashid denied bail

The High Court has denied bail to suspended department of prisons Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Bazlur Rashid in connection with a corruption case.
The virual HC bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim passed the order on Wednesday.
Advocate Mesbabul Islam Asif moved for Bazlur Rashid in the court while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan moved for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Meanwhile, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah represented the state in the virtual hearing.
The case was filed against Bazlur Rashid over amassing Tk 3.08 crore beyond the known source of his income.
The ACC arrested him in the case -- filed with ACC’s Integrated District Office – from the capital’s Segun Bagicha on October 20 last year.
