No surcharge for delayed payment of electricity bills after June

State-run power distribution companies are not imposing any surcharge on electricity bills payments for the months of February, March, April and May due to coronavirus pandemic.
But any surcharge for delayed payment of electricity bills will not be granted after June.
State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid gave the information while speaking to journalists at a virtual press briefing on Wednesday.
The payments of the due bills must be paid by June 30.
Usually a 5.0 per cent surcharge is imposed on electricity bills against non-payment of electricity bills for each month.
He also urged the consumers not to be panicked over the inflated electricity bills, if any, assuring them to resolve it soon.
