Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, who earlier tested positive for coronavirus or COVID-19, has now tested negative.
It means that he has completely recovered from COVID-19 and his body also produced antibody against the virus.
Dr Muhibullah Khandaker, coordinator of the GR COVID-19 Dot Blot project at the Gonoshasthaya Kendra, confirmed the matter on Saturday (June 13) night.
"Dr Zafrullah was tested coronavirus antigen-negative and antibody for COVID-19 positive," he said.
Earlier in the afternoon, Brig Gen Dr Mamun Mustafi, a doctor of Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital, said, "Dr Zafrullah's health condition is stable. His lung infection and sore in the throat are improving slowly. Regular dialysis and other treatments are underway. He urged all to pray for him."
Dr Zafrullah decided to get tested for COVID-19 as he had a high fever on his body. He was tested with the GR COVID-19 Dot Blot, a rapid testing kits recently invented by Gonoshasthaya Kendra. On May 25, he tested positive for COVID-19.
On May 28, an RT-PCR test at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) also found him positive for COVID-19.
Dr Zafrullah has been receiving treatment from Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital since May 29.
