Sahara Khatun's body arrives in Dhaka, burial at 11am

The body of the deceased Awami League presidium member and former Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun arrived in Dhaka early Saturday (July 11).

A US-Bangla special flight, carrying the body of the former home minister, landed in Dhaka around 1:50am.

One of the Awami League presidium members Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim received the body of the former home minister at the airport.

She will be laid to eternal rest at the grave of her mother at Banani Cemetery in the capital at 11am, AFM Bahauddin Nasim said.

Before her burial, a namaz-e-janaza will be held at Banani Mosque on a limited scale following health guidelines, Awami League office secretary Biplob Barua said.

The 77-year-old breathed her last on Thursday (July 9) night at the Bumrungrad International Hospital in Thailand while she was undergoing treatment there.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and condolence at the death of Sahara Khatun.
