M Shahidul Islam made new Bangladesh ambassador to U.S.

The Government has decided to appoint M Shahidul Islam as the new Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States of America.

The announcement was made through a foreign ministry press release on Thursday (September 3).

M. Shahidul Islam has been serving as the Secretary General of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectorial Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). His three-year tenure will be end this September.

He is a career foreign service officer belonging to 1985 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre. In his career, Shahidul Islam served in Bangladesh Missions in South Korea and France.
