Bangladesh Railway launches 20 more passenger trains

Bangladesh Railway has launched 20 more commuters, mail, express and local passenger trains, which were shut down due to coronavirus pandemic, in second phase in a bid to normalise service.
These trains started their operation on different routes in and outside Dhaka from Sunday (September 13) morning. Bangladesh Railway is set to add more 18 pairs of passenger trains to the fleet on September 16 in third phase.
Mohammad Masud Sarwar, station manager of Kamalapur Railway Station, came up with the information.
With the addition of 20 trains to the fleet today, a total of 91 pairs or 182 passenger trains are operating on different routes, he said.
Trains starting operations from today are – Jalalabad Express on the Chattogram-Sylhet-Chattogram route, Surma Mail on the Dhaka-Sylhet-Dhaka route, Dhaka/Noakhali Express on the Noakhali-Dhaka-Noakhali route, Mymensingh Express on the Chattogram-Bangabandhu Bridge East- Chattogram route, Bhawal Express on the Dhaka-Dewanganj Bazar-Dhaka route, Dhaleshwari Express on Mymensingh-Bangabandhu Bridge East-Mymensingh route, Chandpur commuter on the Chandpur-Laksam-Chandpur route and Noakhali commuter on the Noakhali-Laksam-Noakhali route.
It is appropriate to mention that the passenger train service was shut down from March 24 due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
