JMI chairman Razzak placed on 5-day remand

Chairman of JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing Ltd Abdur Razzak

A Dhaka court placed Abdur Razzak, chairman of JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing Ltd, on a five day remand in a case filed on charges of supplying fake N95 masks.

Judge KM Imrul Kayes of the Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka passed the order after Nurul Huda, deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), produced him before the court with a 5-day remand prayer on Tuesday (Sept 29) afternoon.

Earlier in the day, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested JMI Hospital's Chairman Abdur Razzak on charges of supplying fake N-95 mask.

He was arrested from the commission’s headquarters in the capital's Segunbagicha on Tuesday noon.

A team of ACC led by its Director Mir Mohammad Joynul Abedin Shibly arrested him.

Earlier on July 8, the anti- graft body quizzed Razzak over allegations of corruption in purchasing masks, personal protective equipment (PPE) and other materials.
