Payel murder case: Court set to deliver verdict on Nov 1

A Dhaka court is expected to deliver the verdict in the murder of NSU student Payel on Sunday (November 1).

Abu Jafar Mohammad Kamruzzaman, judge of the Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 will deliver the verdict.

On July 22, 2018, Payel, a 5th semester NSU student and son of Golam Mawla of Halishahar in the port city of Chattogram, was found dead in a canal at Bhaterchar in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district.

Police arrested the supervisor from Motijheel and the driver and its helper from Dhaka’s Arambagh areas of the capital.

Later, Jonny, the supervisor of the bus gave a spine-chilling narration of the incident before a court where he confessed to his involvement in the killing of the private university student.

In the statement, the accused said that the victim got down from the bus on that dreadful night. At one stage, he received injury and lost consciousness when the bus started to move. But, the accused threw him from a bridge.

On October 3, 2018, investigation officer of Gazaria police station Mamun Al Rashid submit the probe report against three accused.
