Toll rate of Padma Bridge

The Padma Multipurpose Bridge is not a dream at all. It’s visible now. The final span (42th span) of the bridge has been installed at Mawa of Munshiganj.

Collecting a certain amount of money for toll or vehicle crossings, the government will take back the spent money on the construction of the Padma Bridge. Bridge Division has fixed a primary rate of the toll. However, the rate is not finalized yet.

Sources of road transport and bridge ministry said the donors have conditions or advice on how much toll should be levied if a bridge is built with foreign funding. But, there is no policy in this regard as the Padma Bridge is built with domestic funding. Usually, the Department of Roads and Highways (RHD) fix the toll rate following the toll of ferries of that route.

Last year, Bridge Division published a list of toll rates of Padma Bridge for the next 15 years.

The toll amount for different types of vehicles would be; for bus Tk 2,379, mini truck (five ton) Tk 1620, medium truck (eight-ton) Tk 2100, big truck (more than eight-ton) Tk 2775.
