Works of 2nd tube of Bangabandhu tunnel begins

The construction of the second tube of the much-awaited Bangabandhu Tunnel under Karnaphuli River has been started.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated the tasks through a video conferencing on Saturday (December 12) at noon.

Obaidul Quader said, following the construction of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, there will one city and two town models in Chattogram like China’s Shanghai River.

He said, through this project, modern communication system will be developed between Dhaka-Chittagong and Cox's Bazar as well as connection with Asian Highway.

Over sixty-one percent of construction work of the second tube of Bangabandhu Tunnel has so far been completed, Obaidul Quader added.

Land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, Cabinet secretary Khandakar Anwarul Islam, Bridge Division secretary Md Belayet Hossain and others attended the function.
