2-year of Churihatta tragedy: Probe bodies yet to submit report

The families of the victims of Churihatta fire incident are yet to get any justice over the tragedy that took place on February 21, 2019.

Jahirul Islam Sumon along with his wife and two daughters was living a happy life in Churihatta of Chawkbazar. But the deadly fire destroyed everything. His wife went to a local pharmacy to buy medicine for her daughter on that day. She left forever. The fire took her life destroying the beautiful family.

A total of 71 people were burnt to death in Churihatta. Many families lost their only earners in that devastating fire.

Two years have been passed but the investigation report is pending yet. The date of probe report submission has been changed for 16 times.

Two years ago – on February 20 – a huge explosion suddenly ripped through Churihatta Intersection, causing a massive inferno that engulfed three surrounding multi-storey buildings. The tragic incident left 71 people dead on the spot and injured many.
