The border with Mizoram is only 30 minutes away from Sajek and the road condition is also good. They are giving importance to the issue of border haat there. He (Mizoram minister) suggested that in order to improve their business relations with the 318 km border connection we have with them, they should get commercial benefits. The Prime Minister wants to increase trade relations with those who have borders. They have visited some of our factories. We will try to go to the border very soon.”
He said, “Mizoram was talking about a bridge, which would establish direct communication. They showed a few places and talked about Rangamati, there are deep rivers, but there is not any good road. There is a small canal at the border of Sajek, they can use the Chittagong port if they build a bridge there, it is their dream. The Prime Minister also wants our relations with India to be good.”
Mizoram can take commercial decisions on its own, he said, adding that bamboo, teak wood, letters, fruits, cement and stones come from Mizoram. Products of toiletries, garments, fruit juices of Pran, meat, fish, electronics, cooking oil are going from us. Trade will expand further if border connections can be increased.
