N`ganj Correspondent, Oct 26: Just two hours after making complaint against Narayanganj Awami League leader Shamim Osman to the media, police picked up former star footballer Samrat Hossain Emily.
Emily complained to reporters at about 12 noon on Friday that he was going to Jugubabu`s kitchen market from his Khanpur house at about 7.30am. On his way to the market, Emily entered the Narayanganj Club and wanted to know about the timing of the arrival of its president. At that time, two cadres of Shamim Osman picked him up at gunpoint. Shamim Osman was waiting at the rest house of Narayanganj Club. When Emily was taken there, Shamim Osman manhandled him. He also threatened to kill Emily putting the barrel of his pistol into his mouth.
Claiming himself as a worker of Awami League, Emily said he did not know why Shamim Osman behaved with him in such a manner. He said his pregnant wife fell sick knowing that he was beaten by Shamim Osman.
Two private television channels broadcast news that Shamim Osman manhandled footballer Emily. Just two hours after police picked up Emily. At that time, he was returning from Khanpur Hospital Mosque after offering Jumma prayer.
When contacted, Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station OC declined to talk on the matter.
