Around 14-15 groups selling LSD online

Police have arrested five youths for selling Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD). Law enforcers also seized LSD, Ice and Cannabis from them. According to them, around 14-15 groups in Bangladesh are selling the dangerous drug LSD online.

Abdul Ahad, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Motijheel Zone, said this in a press conference on Sunday (May 30) evening.

He said, “On tipped off, Md Saiful Islam alias Saif, SM Manwar Akib alias Annan, Md Nazmus Shakib were arrested for selling illegal LSD from the capital’s Khilgaon on Saturday (May 29) night. Their bodies were searched and LSD and ice were seized. Nazmul Islam and BM Sirajus Salekin Tapu were arrested in a raid at Baridhara Chowdhury Lounge under Bhatara Police Station on the same night on the basis of information provided by them. Later, a large quantity of LSD was recovered from the third floor of Kaniz Fatema Bibi’s house of Mohakhali TV Gate area under Banani Police Station.”

He added, “Police have recently started investigation after a student of Dhaka University died of LSD. The investigation found the involvement of five people. After their arrest, they confessed that around 14 to 15 groups in the capital are involved in the sale of LSD. Students from different universities sell LSD online through their own groups. They also have specific customers. Drugs are delivered through online communication. Money is also accepted online. Those arrested were first addicted to LSD. Later they got involved in drug peddling. They will be produced before a court and remand will be sought for interrogation to arrest other members of the racket.”

In reply to a query, DC Abdul Ahad said, “LSD was discovered by a scientist of Switzerland. Then it attracted the drug peddlers. They started selling it as a drug in different countries. Each LSD is sold for around Tk 3,000. Most of the buyers for LSD are from affluent families. After taking LSD, people do not have normal thoughts and consciousness. They can be inspired to do any bad thing, which is deadly for the youth society. The government intelligence agencies are working with the police to prevent the sale and use of LSD.”

Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) is a type of acid in the nature of medicine that acts as a psychological influencer. The unreal seem real when it was consumed. It is usually placed under the tongue. It can also be taken in the form of injections.
