BTRC fixes a uniform price rate for broadband internet

The government has set a uniform price rate for broadband internet across the country.

According to the tariff plan, internet service providers will not be able to charge more than Tk500 for 5Mbps speed connection, Tk700-800 for 10Mbps speed connection and Tk1,100-1,200 for connections with 20Mbps speed and above.

Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabber made the announcement while inaugurating "one country, one rate" tariff plan for broadband Internet service on Sunday (June 6).

BTRC said, if service providers want, then they can take less amount than the new tariff but, but will not be able to charge.
