Copyright law being updated: State Minister for Cultural Affairs

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid has said that the government is committed to retaining, nurturing and, above all, intellectual property in all branches of industry, including music. That is why various steps are being taken including modernization of copyright law and formation of transparent, acceptable and effective copyright association. Through this, the government is working to build a creative, talented and knowledgeable nation.

He was addressing as the chief guest at a programme organised online on the occasion of the first founding anniversary of the Geeti Kabi Sangha on Saturday (July 3).

He further said, “The Geeti Kabi Sangha (GKS), the Singers Association of Bangladesh (SAB) and the Music Composers Society of Bangladesh (MCSB) along with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs have submitted 17 proposals for the development of music. Most of the proposals are under active consideration of the Ministry.
