Online News Portal Association makes debut

The government-registered online news portal owners’ organization ‘Online News Portal Association, Bangladesh’ has officially started its journey.

A 15-member convening committee was formed with Mollah Amzad Hossain, editor of ep-bd.com, as convener and Shaheen Chowdhury, editor of abnews24bd.com, as member secretary at a meeting at the National Press Club on Monday (August 16). The meeting was chaired by Farida Yasmin, President of the National Press Club and Editor of womeneye24.com.

The task of this organization is to manage the government registered online with professionalism and to resolve the issues of interest through consultation with the authorities.

Besides, the organization will undertake various programmes including training to improve the professional standards of journalists. The owners of 81 registered online news portals are members of this organization.

The convening committee will contact everyone and form a full committee within the next three months.

Earlier, a meeting was also held on June 16 on the same issue.
