`Rassel wanted to declare Evaly bankrupt`

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of e-commerce platform Evaly Mohammad Rassel planned to declare Evaly as bankrupt.

Khandaker Al Moin, RAB's Legal and media wing director, revealed the information at a press briefing on Friday noon.

CEO of Evaly Mohammad Rassel and Chairman Shamima Nasrin, also the wife of Rassel, were grilled after arrest. They admitted that the total amount of Evaly's liabilities is more than TK 1,000 crore, the RAB officer said.

The CEO and chairman of the company also said they were not able to clear the liabilities of their customers and suppliers. Legal action is underway against the two arrestees, he added.

CEO Evaly Mohammad Rassel and Chairman Shamima Nasrin were arrested on charges of embezzling customers’ money at a raid at their house at Mohammadpur in the city on Thursday afternoon.

Earlier, a case was filed against them on charges of embezzling customers' money.
