DGHS issues 15 guidelines to prevent Omicron

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) of Bangladesh has announced a set of 15 guidelines to control and prevent the new coronavirus variant Omicron.

A press release signed by Md. Nazmul Islam, Director, Disease Control & Line, DGHS; issued the guidelines on Sunday.
The new guidelines are -

1.    Strengthening proper health checkup and screening of passengers arriving from South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Estonia, Lesotho and other countries, those are infected with Omicron
2.    Taking steps to discourage all kinds of social, political, religious and other gatherings
3.    Wearing masks properly outside
4.    Restaurants and hotels should allow customers half of their capacity
5.    Tourist spots, recreation centres, resorts, community centres, cinema/theatre halls and other programmes including marriage, birthday, picnic and party, should operate at 50% of their capacity or less
6.    Ensuring health guidelines at mosques and other places of worship
7.    Ensuring hygiene rules on public transports
8.    Passengers coming from infected countries must be placed in 14-day quarantine
9.    Health rules should be followed at all educational institutions
10.    Healthcare workers and receivers must wear masks at all sorts of medical centres and maintain hygiene rules
11.    Vaccination campaigns should be conducted in compliance with healthcare guidelines
12.    Meanwhile, those with Covid symptoms and the people who came in contact with them have to be isolated and quarantined respectively
13.    Coordinating with local authorities to isolate suspected Covid-19 patients showing symptoms and test their samples
14.    Masks should be worn by employees at all public and private offices and hygiene rules should be followed while carrying out official tasks
15.    Raising awareness for wearing masks and following healthcare guidelines.
